This quick and easy seed-oil free chocolate milk is so tasty, you’ll never feel the need to buy Nesquik again! And best of all, it’s so much better for you!
I grew up on chocolate milk. When I was younger, my mom took me to the doctor because I was having some stomach problems and he recommended I cut out chocolate milk for a few days. This resulted in a full blown sobbing cry fest because I wanted chocolate milk so badly. Fast forward: I met my husband in college where, at every meal, he drank chocolate milk as his beverage of choice (it was always available in our dining hall). A match made in heaven!
Now that I’m older and I have kids, I want to be able to allow them (as well as myself and my husband) to enjoy chocolate milk, but I also try to limit refined sugar and stay in control of ingredients as much as possible. Enter this homemade chocolate milk as the solution. It’s incredibly delicious and only uses three ingredients, all of which you can easily get at the store.
Ingredients
You only need three staples to make your own chocolate milk–cocoa powder, milk (my family drinks raw milk), and maple syrup. You can also use stevia or agave nectar if you prefer, but I think maple syrup tastes the best!
Instructions
This chocolate milk could not be easier. Stick half the milk (if you put all the milk in and fill your jar up, the blending will make a big mess), the cocoa, and the maple syrup in a quart size mason jar or large glass and use an immersion blender to mix the ingredients together (this will only take a few seconds). You can also make this in a regular blender or a hand mixer if you don’t have an immersion blender, but you want to use some kind of electric blender or mixer or you will struggle getting the cocoa powder to incorporate.
Then add the rest of the milk, stir with a spoon and enjoy!
