Hello friend! I’m Katie. I’m a wife and mama of two littles—a girl and a boy. Before I became a mama, and for the first two and a half years after, I worked as an attorney. I left that career to stay home, raise my kiddos, and take care of my house and family. Here, I hope to share my passion for cooking easy, healthy-ish meals and to share practical tips and insights into managing the beautiful chaos of motherhood. So whether you’re looking for quick dinner ideas or ways to balance the demands of mom-life, you’re in the right place!

While I was working, I realized that many moms, like me, needed simple, tasty, and healthy-ish meal options that didn’t take hours to prepare and can be adapted depending on the pockets of time in your day as well as the ingredients in your pantry. With that in mind, Love, this mama aims to be a source of inspiration and support for all the other busy mamas out there.

I grew up in Kentucky so I love southern comfort food—my grandma’s specialty growing up was chicken and dumplins. As a mama now, I’ve tried to apply the same philosophy my grandma used and cook delicious homemade meals as often as possible. This method generally fits within my family’s definition of healthy-ish eating which, to us, means eating foods as close to their original state as much as possible.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am nowhere close to perfect. I wish I could say I was only making perfect, always from scratch dinners while singing and dancing around my kitchen with my kiddos like I’m Mary Poppins—but that’s just not my current reality. I still buy convenience food and pick up take out. But right now, my motto most nights is “let’s just make dinner at home that’s hopefully healthier than fast food.” Catchy right?

I’m a big believer in customizing any recipe to work for my family. So as you find recipes you want to try, feel free to change it up so your family will be begging for seconds. Y’all love spice? Add in hot sauce, a spicy meat, or red pepper flakes! Obsessed with cheese? Add double! Adapt the recipes to work for you. I also realize that as a mama, we don’t always have the luxury of being able to stand in the kitchen uninterrupted for hours (or even two minutes) so we can get a beautiful gourmet dinner on the table.

As I provide you with delicious meal ideas, I’ll also try to provide tips for easy substitutions and different ways you can change things up from the traditional “start making dinner at 5 so you can have things ready by 5:30, quick, quick, get it done before the baby starts crying, too late, why is this so hard, delivery pizza it is” format that happens more often than I would like to admit at my house.

Along the way, I’ll also be sharing some other aspects of mama life. Whether that’s a list of gift ideas for you to send your husband at Christmas, or some of the more practical struggles of being a mama, there’s nothing we can’t talk about!

I’m thrilled to have you join me on this adventure. Whether you’re a new mom or a seasoned pro, we all have something to learn and share. I look forward to connecting with you through our shared experiences and passion for making family life a little bit easier and a lot more enjoyable.

Whether you’re working or staying home, I think taking care of your home and family is so worthwhile. Come along with me as I try to put together simply delicious meals for my family, create healthier from scratch substitutions, and try to grow into the best wife and mama I can possibly be, all in the available time a mama of littles has.
