This quick and easy seed-oil free ranch dressing is so tasty, it will blow any store bought ranch dressing out of the water! And best of all, it’s so much better for you!
I used to go to certain restaurants specifically because the ranch dressing was so delicious (think Cheesecake Factory and Outback Steakhouse). But after having my first baby, I got very sick, ultimately had my gallbladder removed, and my stomach has never been the same. So since I can’t enjoy a big ranch-smothered cheese fry appetizer without seriously regretting all my life choices anymore, I’ve tried to recreate my favorite restaurant staples at home. Enter this incredible ranch dressing recipe.
I’ve found that what helps me feel the best with my current digestion issues is trying to avoid seed oils as much as possible, which is incredibly important with items like dressings that are made almost entirely of seed oils. This ranch dressing recipe is restaurant quality without all the seed oils!
Ingredients
There are several ways you can make homemade ranch dressing. But all ranch dressings generally consist of spices, mayonnaise–if you’re trying to avoid seed oils, this is the ingredient that makes ranch full of seed-oils, so make sure you’re choosing a seed-oil free mayo–and some form of dairy. If you want your dressing to be more runny like a salad dressing, use milk or buttermilk. If you want it to be more thick like a dip, use sour cream. If you want it to be more thick and a bit higher in protein, substitute the sour cream for Greek yogurt, or use any combination of the three, don’t overthink it!
The recipe outlined in this post makes an absolutely incredible, impress your friends and family, restaurant quality ranch. We go through a lot of ranch dressing in our house. I generally make a batch once a week, and sometimes I just don’t feel like getting out all the spices I need for this recipe, popping their little plastic shaker lids off so I can stick a measuring spoon in and then putting everything back. I’m a very busy mama–five minutes matters.
So, if you’re looking for the easiest possible way to make homemade seed-oil-free ranch dressing, buy ranch seasoning mix from the store and make it according to the package instructions using a seed-oil free mayo. Those packets generally have other ingredients that I like to avoid, so if you want the convenience of the store bought dressing mix, with the healthiness of a homemade dressing, make your own dressing mix using the seasoning here! Mix the seasonings in bulk in a jar and when then you have your additive-free ranch seasoning mix so you can make ranch dressing with ease!
Instructions
This dressing could not be easier. Stick all the ingredients in a bowl or jar and mix them together. That’s it! Though I will say that the flavor for this dressing is best if you let it sit in the fridge for at least a couple hours before serving. This gives the ingredients time to get to know each other and blend together.
Notes
- When storing the dressing, I usually go off of the soonest expiration date to determine how long I can store it. For example, if I use mayo and sour cream, the sour cream will almost definitely have a sooner expiration date than the mayo. Now say the sour cream expires in two weeks from the day I made my ranch dressing, that means I will only keep that batch of dressing for two weeks (if it makes it that long).
Love,
this Mama
